Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookies
Adapted from Southern Living April 2005
Yield
Makes about 5 dozen
Ingredients
Preparation- 3/4 cup butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Mexican vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 (12-ounce) package Ghirardelli semisweet chocolate morsels
Beat butter with white sugar at medium speed with an electric mixer until blended then add brown sugar
and beat with an electric mixer until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla,
beating until blended.
Combine flour, soda, and salt in a small bowl; gradually add to butter mixture, beating well. Stir in morsels.
Drop by tablespoonfuls onto lightly greased baking sheets.
Bake at 350° for 8 to 14 minutes (I baked them 12 minutes) or until desired degree of doneness. They will harden after removing from oven so don't bake too long. Remove to wire racks to cool completely. Store in an air tight container for up to a week.
That's all fine and well, but have you considered....if you give a pig a pancake? or perhaps if you give a moose a muffin?
ReplyDeleteI saw this post and just had to stop by. My daughter still loves that book, and your cookies look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to have to make these today, and then i'm going to read that adorable book to my kids! These look SO good!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter's 1st grade class has been reading all those books, I love reading them too!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is when you give a moose a muffin!
Your cookies look AMAZING!
If I make cookies, I have to either bring them to work or give them away, can't resist them!
Okay, these look scrumptious. I have a definite WEAKNESS for chocolate chip cookies. I also have a fave recipe for them; I'll have to see if these are a contender.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Hey! I am supposed to be the baker! Those are the best looking cookies I have ever seen. You are SO making them when I get there next week.
ReplyDeleteYour Sister,
Jessica
I love cookies so much! But how can you make so many when you have a sweet toothed diabetic living in your house. It seems like I am in heaven when I see the cookies but I always get in trouble because I can't control myself and I eat too many. You are a an incredible wife but a little cruel when making some many cookies.
ReplyDeleteI loved that book as a kid! It's such a classic.
ReplyDeleteThis is now my go to Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe. And it you double it and bake it in a half sheet pan, it makes an incredible cookie bar. Will be using this as a base recipe for some twists and tweaks. Thanks, Neighbor!
ReplyDeleteI JUST made these cookies and they are wonderful! Thank you for posting the recipe!
