Bake, Rattle and Stroll
Our friends just found out that they are expecting their first child. It is such an exciting time in a couple's life and I wanted to do something special to let them know how thrilled we were for them. I made these mini cupcakes using a box cake mix and then made this easy buttercream frosting. I colored the frosting using icing colors (my pink was a little dark) and then poked holes in the side of the cupcakes using toothpicks. Then I tied ribbon onto lollipop sticks and stuck a gumdrop at the bottom of the stick. After the ribbon and gumdrop were secured onto the stick I placed it in the pre-poked hole in the cupcake about a 1/2 an inch deep. These baby rattles were amazingly easy and so much fun to make. I used boxed cake mix because I didn't know how involved the assembly would be and how much time it would take. It was such a snap that next time I will definitely make the cupcakes from scratch.
These are so cute! I'm going to keep this idea in mind for my SIL & BIL who are expecting.
